Quality Engineer
Reports To: Quality Manager
Work Location: Holland, MI

We have an exciting opportunity as a Quality Engineer to work out of our Maplewood location. This position supports manufacturing operations as well as quality and advanced quality for new launch activity including the Honda Pilot overhead system (OHS). This position involves the exercise of independent judgment and discretion about matters of significance.

POSITION:

• Reviews program development process and expedites critical path components and processes to maintain schedule.
• Evaluates and resolves engineering related production problems related to manufacturing, design, quality and material engineering.
• Main customer contact, ability to communicate and meet customer expectations.
• Responsible for oversight of quality and the quality manufacturing process. Primary customer contact for any quality and delivery inquiries from Honda.
• Responsible for leading, developing, managing and executing all quality systems required within their area of responsibility. This includes working with customers, suppliers (external and internal), Launch personnel, and Manufacturing staff.
• Maintenance of APQP documentation and support of the corrective action process are primary tasks. This includes preparation and submission of customer required documentation and construction of 8D problem solving responses.
• Responsible for daily reporting of key metrics, issues, and actions.
• Launch AQE responsibilities for Honda Pilot OHS. May require some support in Alabama as the launch nears (up to 25% near launch)
• The position is primarily first shift but includes support of other shifts. Limited travel to support customer or launch needs is required.
• The position reports to the Maplewood Quality Manager with dotted line to Plant Operations Manager.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Understanding of Honda Business Systems; and Honda SQM (Supplier Quality Manual)
• Customer interfacing and project management experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Excellent problem-solving skills, including experience preparing problem solving documents such as 8D’s; and Honda 5P Problem Solving expertise if/when needed
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to work in a self-directed environment
• Strong mechanical/technical skills and ability to read engineering drawings
• Understanding the following quality methods: APQP, PPAP, TS16949, PFMEA, & MSA
