MANUFACTURING MANAGER

Blair Image Elements is actively seeking a Manufacturing Manager for its manufacturing facilities in Altoona, Pennsylvania. Blair Image Elements is a recognized leader in the design, production and installation of signage, architectural facades, lighting systems and related branding elements for regional, national and international clients.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing along with other Manufacturing Managers, you will be responsible for day-to-day management of production with assigned employees in achieving order demand.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures relating to safety, quality, regulatory, environmental and human resources
  • Coach, develop and mentor production supervisors; drive employee engagement, training and development
  • Actively promote cross training for the purpose of improving throughput, conversion rates, and employee career growth
  • Exhibit sound management, motivation, innovation and initiative
  • Drive implementation of methods/techniques to improve core manufacturing functions – scheduling, order flow, material management, equipment utilization and quality assurance
  • Drive factory performance to KPIs
  • Proactively improve product quality and margins while driving down waste and rework costs
  • Set work center labor standards and achieve set standards
  • Conduct and/or actively participate in routine, functional meetings
  • Collaboratively work with Project Management, Engineering, Procurement and Warehouse departments to achieve common, customer-centric goals
  • Administer company processes and methodologies for employee hiring, evaluations, advancement and performance decisions
  • Work alongside factory management planning capacity, staffing, training, work scheduling and throughput goals as directed by order backlog and forecast
Qualifications:
  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree (technical preferred) or equivalent training, education and experience
  • Minimum of 10-15 years demonstrated hands-on experience in an engineered-to-order manufacturing environment
  • Minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience managing manufacturing/production supervisors
  • Exceptional action and customer service orientation with the ability to effectively multi-task and prioritize in a fast paced, dynamic business environment
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Effective at building influential relationships with employees and internal/external customers
  • Business acumen to identify solutions for business problems
  • Strong demonstrated quantitative and manufacturing operational skills
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; MRP/ERP system experience a must
Physical Demands

Must have the ability to sit, stand, walk and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment

Manufacturing environment; appropriate safety equipment and precautions required such as safety glasses, face shields, gloves, ear plugs, etc.

Work Schedule

Production work schedule is Monday thru Thursday 10 hours work schedules with Friday and Weekend overtime as required to meet order demand.
