The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual to take on the dynamic role of a Fiscal Technician 2 located at Larch Corrections Center (LCC) in Yacolt, WA. This is a full-time, permanent position.

Opened in 1956 with the current operating capacity of 480 offenders, LCC is a minimum custody facility located on a relatively remote 40-acre site, approximately 20 miles northeast of Vancouver, WA. The site is leased from the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), and the DNR also maintains a facility on site which provides work for the offenders. LCC employs about 120 staff members.

Duties

Key responsibilities of a Fiscal Technician 2 include, but are not limited to:
  • Prepare and process accounting entries for local accounts
  • Process deposit, withdrawal, and transfer activity to incarcerated individual accounts
  • Apply DOC policy, WAC, and RCW in responding to inquiries received from the incarcerated individual, incarcerated individual’s family/friends, local/other facility staff and external entities
  • Prepare release check from incarcerated individual’s account, prepare gate fund, and arrange for transportation as requested on incarcerated individual paperwork
  • Month-end activity including providing necessary reports to assist with preparation of required local fund financial reporting
  • Maintain accounting required for incarcerated individuals’ club/fundraising activity
  • Provide support to Business Manager as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • High School graduate or equivalent

Desired Qualifications:
  • A business focused Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university whose accreditation is recognized by the US Department of Education and the Council of Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or foreign equivalent, with a minimum of 20 accounting credits to include Accounting 201, 202, 203 and Governmental Accounting.

Telework Details
This position may be eligible to telework after initial in-office training is complete. Work may be performed from your home or another offsite location within the state of Washington using a reliable internet or cellular hotspot service. Employees are expected to perform assigned duties in a safe manner, to take proper care all state-issued equipment, and maintain confidentiality of all information in possession while working offsite. Employees will be required to commute to a Department of Corrections facility as business requires.
