Entry Level Landscape Architect Job at Nichols Consulting Engineers, Chtd. (NCE)
NCE is seeking energetic, motivated, passionate, design focused individuals to join our emerging landscape practice in Oakland, CA. Our work is primarily in the public realm; it involves complex multi-year endeavors ranging from healing landscapes to complete streets, multi-modal trails to campus masterplans, green infrastructure to creek restoration. Activities that a candidate may undertake are-
· Illustrating: Render conceptual studies and illustrative plans with a range of media on multiple digital platforms. Prepare 3-D visualizations in a range of styles.
· Designing: Participate in project ideation, prepare, and refine conceptual studies in coordination with senior staff from concept to construction documentation.
· Collaborating: With a range of professionals from civil engineers, scientists, biologists, regulatory compliance and permitting specialists, environmental engineers, and cultural resource experts.
· Researching: Project sites, construction materials and processes, software, emerging horticultural practices and plants, regulatory requirements, new technologies and approaches to climate change.
· Documenting: Assist in the preparation of construction documents-demolition, layout, grading and planting plans, details, specifications and cost estimates, public feedback and input.
· Participating: In design charettes with clients, communities and colleagues. Assist in community meetings, outreach efforts and engagement of the public.
Minimum Qualifications:
· B.A. in Landscape Architecture or M.A. of Landscape Architecture with 0-2 years of experience
· Proficiency in latest versions of AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Cloud, Sketch-up, Microsoft Word
· Strong oral and written communication skills
Desirable Qualifications:
· AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office proficiency
· Experience working as a landscape intern or in a related profession i.e., horticulture or environmental science
· Built work or field experience with construction
· An interest and ability to work collaboratively with your colleagues, clients, and the community
· Ability to listen and think critically
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $60,000.00 per year
