WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATOR 3 Job at State of Washington Dept. of Corrections

The Department of Corrections is seeking highly motivated and qualified individuals to a Wasterwater Treatment Plant Operator Position at Larch Corrections Center. This is a non-permanent appointment anticipated to last up to 6 months.

LARCH CORRECTIONS CENTER (LCC)
Opened in 1956 with the current operating capacity of 240 incarcerated individuals. LCC is a minimum custody facility located on a relatively remote 40 acres site, approximately 20 miles northeast of Vancouver, WA. The site is leased from the Department of Natural Resources (DNR). The DNR also maintains a facility on site and provides work for the offenders. LCC employs about 110 staff members.
AGENCY PROFILE
The Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator supports the Departments mission by ensuring all state, federal, and local health and safety procedures are followed.
Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Operates and maintains a class 3 Wastewater Treatment Plant, and complies with our BPDES permit requirements.
- Supervises and trains an incarcerated individual work crew, on policy and procedure for operations of the wastewater treatment plant
- Prepare or update written standard operating procedures (SOP), monthly discharge monitoring reports, monthly chlorination reports, and bio-solid reports.
- Act as the LCC water distribution manager, maintaining accurate records of water use and treatment of our potable water supply
- Act as the LCC Hazardous Waste Coordinator, ensuring compliance with container and hazardous waste management as the LCC Hazardous Waste Coordinator
- Act as the LCC Confined Space Entry Supervisor, ensuring compliance with confined space entry as defined by policy
- Will assist in stormwater management
- Responsible for maintaining lab supplies, ordering parts for equipment, filling work orders to have equipment repaired, and keeping stock chemicals and other materials to properly ensure operation of the plant.

Required:
Certification by Department of Ecology as a Group 3 wastewater treatment plant operator
OR
Certification by Department of Ecology as a Group II wastewater treatment plant operator with the ability to obtain certification by the Department of Ecology as a Group III wastewater treatment plant operator within twelve (12) month*The successful candidate will be required to maintain certification by attending continuing education units as required by the Department of Ecology.
AND
Have a Water Distribution Manager Certification or the ability to obtain the certification within one year.
Preferred:
Have or obtain training in order to sign manifests to manage LCC Hazardous Waste
Cross Connect/backflow certification.
