A growing company in the construction industry is looking for a Structural Engineer experienced with Design Assist projects. This person will assist with cost estimates, budget reviews, scheduling, constructability analysis, value engineering, phasing, and 3-D modeling of large steel projects.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in the construction budgeting process.
• Propose designs for efficient steel construction.
• Propose designs for optimal building design including consideration for other trades.
• Propose designs that will help achieve project schedule goals.
• Value engineering
• Develop connection design calculations. Review connection design calculations created by others.
• Collect and coordinate design assist information from the company's subcontractors like joist and deck suppliers and erection subcontractors.
• Prepare design assist budgets for the Construction Manager.
• Provide engineering consultation on the project as it moves into the production phase.

Requirements:

• BS or MS in Civil/Structural Engineering
• At least 7 years of design experience on large steel framed projects (> 500 tons)
• Registered P.E. with credentials (or the ability to get credentials) in the company's current primary markets and future markets. Current primary markets are VA, MD, DC, PA, DE, NJ, NY, TN, OH, KY.

Ideally this position will be based in one of the company's offices located on the Delmarva Peninsula. This can change later based on the candidate's work ethic and ability to interact with other departments.
