The Sr. Database Administrator will be responsible for playing an active role in designing, developing, delivering and supporting the SQL/Oracle environment to meet the Valley National Bank Business requirements.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Day to day management of all aspects of the databases (SQL/Oracle) as it relates to the application, interfaces and integrations.
  • Provides production support as needed.
  • Perform various DBA tasks such as installations, configurations, data purges and database implementations.
  • Upgrade, maintain, develop and enhance the SQL Server Environment.
  • Maintain accurate and current documentation of SQL/Data warehousing technology installation settings and specifications.
  • Keep daily problems logs and files periodic status reports.
  • Performs application metering including database size, memory usage, allocating resources to applications.
  • Improve the availability, reliability & stability of all areas and components of the SQL Environment by establishing and executing best practices.
  • Ensure technical designs are solid and support the delivery of solutions that meet the need and are easily supportable while complying with audit and regulatory guidelines.
  • Write and manage custom SQLqueries for database analysis.
  • Create and maintain data storage plan for backup and retention. Ensure that a viable database is always available off-site.
  • Participates in Disaster Recovery tests to validate the database recovery procedures.
Requirements:
Required Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of Windows 2008 R2 and Windows 2012 R2 Server.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2005-2012 Business Intelligence Stack.
  • Strong knowledge of Database Modeling. Strong Knowledge of SQL server tools.
  • Proficient in Oracle Database Administration.
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of data modeling, data dictionary and BIG data solutions.
  • Experience with Clustering, Mirroring and Log Shipping.
  • Experience with building a highly available environment.
  • Experience in installing and configuring multi-node and multi-subnet clustered SQL servers.
  • Understanding of high availability, disaster recovery, performance testing, and tuning. Strong interpersonal skills.
Required Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of 5 years of SQL/Oracle Database Administration experience.
  • Windows Clustering/SQL server clustering implementation.
  • MCSE, MCDBA or Oracle Certification (Associate, Professional or Master level).
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
  • 8 or more years of required experience preferred.
