Job Description

This position provides State of Michigan (SOM) agencies with planning and support in the use of Microsoft 365 collaboration tools. A focus of the position is the design, development, maintenance, and enhancement of State of Michigan SharePoint Team Collaboration Sites, SharePoint Communication Sites, and Teams. The position will also support the use of Microsoft 365 collaboration solutions such as Power Automate, Power Apps, and OneDrive. The incumbent must meet with state agency line-of-business staff to identify business goals and to determine the most appropriate collaboration tool to meet their needs, and work with agency staff to design and create sites with the appropriate structure, metadata, and workflow.

This position will focus on support of the Department of Technology, Management, & Budget’s Central Procurement Services SharePoint implementation, including routine maintenance for existing sites as well as design and development of new sites and automation.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:


  • Knowledge of SharePoint architecture and design, including the ability to produce technical documentation
  • Experience and ability to gather and document business requirements and identify solutions to meet requirements
  • Experience designing and building SharePoint Communication and Team Collaboration sites in Microsoft 365
  • Extensive experience in managing user access and troubleshooting user reported issues
  • Experience implementing workflow automation with Power Automate
  • Some experience in solution development with Power Apps, including the use of a variety of data connectors
  • Knowledge and experience in a variety of Microsoft 365 tools, including SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Forms, Power Automate, and Power Apps, and the ability to determine tools to best meet the needs of the clients.
  • Ability to create end user training material such as job aids and instructional videos

Possession of a Bachelor's degree with 21 semester (32 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: computer science, data processing, computer information systems, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, information assurance, IT project management or mathematics.

Alternate Education and Experience

Information Technology Programmer/Analyst P11 - 12
Possession of an associate's degree with 16 semester (24 term) credits in computer science, information assurance, data processing, computer information, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, IT project management, or mathematics and two years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, or information technology technician; or two years (4,160 hours) of experience as an Information Technology Student Assistant may be substituted for the education requirement.

OR

Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and four years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, information technology technician, or four years (8,320 hours) of experience as an Information Technology Student Assistant may be substituted for the education requirement.

Vacation and Sick Leave: Eligible full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 personal days and 13 sick days per year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.

Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leave immediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.
