Job Description

Our client, a leading construction company, is currently seeking an accomplished Preconstruction Manager to join the team. Here is an overview of the role:

1) Prepare supplementary information for potential projects

2) Read, comprehend and discuss contract documents

3) Perform quantity take-offs, organize and analyze information and price self-perform activities based on knowledge of production and durations of activities

4) Understand the difference between the narrow focus of cost-estimating services and the broader rough order of magnitude budgeting

5) Work well with Architects, Owners and fellow employees while providing leadership in the preconstruction process and demonstrating best practices and ownership of estimates throughout preconstruction and construction

6) Attend pre-bid meetings, perform site visits, site assessments and walkthroughs

7) Solicit bids and quotes from subcontractors and suppliers using various communication methods and bid solicitation software

8) Communicate with subs and suppliers directly to clarify scope, pricing and information

9) Determine the suitability and competitive stance of subs and suppliers

10) Prepare and analyze estimate formats in such areas as general conditions and bidding, quantity takeoffs and bid analysis

11) Be responsible for the preparation of bid proposal for submittal

12) Provide value-engineering and cost options to clients for review

13) Attend Owner and Design Team meetings during estimate development

14) Initiate schematic plans or sketches to illustrate the approach and strategy

15) Perform other duties as assigned

Critical Requirements

1) A university degree is required. Although all candidates are welcome and encouraged to apply, preference will be given to those with degrees in a relevant field

2) Appropriate full-time work experience is mandatory (no students or fresh graduates please)

3) Recent experience in the construction industry is strongly preferred

4) Preference will be given to candidates with recent experience in engineering management
