Commercial IT is a global IT capability supporting the Commercial organisation. We business partner with Commercial areas: Biopharma, Oncology, International and Japan – and also Rare Disease Unit. We operate out of hubs sites including in the UK, Sweden, US and out of our Global Innovation Technology Centres in India and Mexico – and in markets all over the world.

Job role

Responsibilities include all aspects of planning, analysis, design, configuration, testing toward the implementation of IT Platforms and Products. Will also involve working closely with third party suppliers. The development focus will be primarily on the SSD demand portfolio which includes projects and releases on Commercial IT platforms.

Key accountabilities

• The Platform Engineer will maintain deep working knowledge of platforms/products/infrastructure aligned with their development assignments

• Lead build, test, and deploy activities for assigned platform and IT product initiatives

• As needed and opportunistically, provides technical expertise to peers and 3rd party development suppliers to ensure consistency in alignment to AZ IT and Commercial IT standards and processes

• Works with platform delivery resources to ensure validation of business and functional requirements as part of product and platform development responsibilities

• Provides input into cases, Request for Proposals, supplier selection, and evaluation of proposals

• Serve as an internal consultant on key assigned platforms and technologies for IT and business partners across all business areas

• Evaluate the applicability of new technologies / application features and make recommendations for technology and business strategic roadmaps

• Help refine business requirements, set priorities, lead expectations, resolve issues, and work with the other members of the technical team to deliver innovative solutions.

• Collaborate with Regional Solution architects and Capability leads to co-create functionalities with strategic markets with a view to scale globally

• Demonstrate significant understanding of the application development processes of AstraZeneca’s implementation of the product.

• Lead, mentor and coach the AZ Application Development team based in Chennai to increase throughput and quality

• Establish partnerships with 3rd party suppliers for staff augmentation and project capacity and provide technical guidance for projects implemented through these suppliers

• Serve as an internal consultant for IT and business partners across regions and business areas (Commercial, Medical)

Continuous Improvement and Innovation

• Partners with Platform Success Lead(s) on continuous improvement opportunities within platform and product level backlogs

• Identifies new hardware/software technologies to fit specialised business needs and configurations

• Identify issues with current processes and provide feedback on proposed changes to enhance effectiveness of IT

Essential skills & experience

• Minimum 3 years of Salesforce development experience

• Deep knowledge of whole SFDC technology stack

• Proven track record of designing and operating critically important SFDC applications

• APEX, VF, LWC

• SFDC Sharing and Security models

• Development standard methodologies

• Experience working with and influencing business and BA’s around SFDC architecture and designs

• Experience supporting and guiding development teams

• Expertise in application design patterns and processes

• Prior experience in an Information Services/Information Technology environment with good eye for business

• Expertise in Continuous Integration and Deployment methods delivered as part of an agile team

• Bachelor's Degree in computer science or similar field

• 5 Years overall experience

• Experience Cloud and CMS

• SFDC integration architectures and patterns

• ETL Platform Snaplogic or something similar

• Health cloud

• Service cloud

• Einstein

• Digital Engagement

• Master Degree

• Prior significant experience working in Pharmaceutical or Healthcare industry IT environment

• Proven experience of leading and coaching/mentoring offshore teams of developers

• Proven experience of developing and maintaining relationships with 3rd party suppliers

• Experience of working within a quality and compliance environment and application of policies, procedures and guidelines
