The Bay Speech and Play is a woman-owned Speech Language Pathology Private Practice in Oakland, CA. We are dedicated to empowering a diverse community of speech-language pathologists to provide quality speech therapy services to our clientele in the East Bay Area (Oakland, San Leandro, Castro Valley, Hayward, Livermore, and surrounding cities).

Speech-Language Pathologist Position Summary

The Speech-Language Pathologist administers diagnostic speech and language evaluations, provides direct patient services, and works collaboratively with caregivers to educate them in evidenced-based language development strategies, while following established policies and protocols. The SLP is responsible for working directly with the children and parents in the child’s most natural environment– their home. In addition, the SLP collaborates with Regional Center case managers and others from the clinical team, educators, and families to ensure optimal growth and development for each child.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Evaluates and assesses pediatric patients with a variety of communication disorders, voice and swallowing impairment, and/or neurological defects
  • Educates patient, family, teachers, and other caregivers in treatment and home management techniques
  • Participates in continuing education to continually improve skills and abilities and stay abreast of current technologies/practices
  • Collaborates with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the highest quality and consistency of care
  • Offers appropriate referrals, resources, and education to parents
  • Ensures compliance with legal issues including but not limited to patient confidentiality and risk management; ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in speech-language pathology, current California license in speech and language pathology, and one year of related experience (CFY candidates also considered)
  • Current CPR certification
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to flow with changes
  • Strong charting/documentation skills
  • Able to work collaboratively with multiple health professionals in a busy and complex environment using tact, diplomacy, and discipline
  • Bilingual skills are a plus

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract, PRN, Per diem

Pay: $55.00 - $72.00 per hour
