Job Summary:

The Market Supervisor is responsible for providing excellent customer service and general supervision to produce optimum sales, and increase staff productivity at the Pebble Beach Market.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Open and close store as directed by manager.
  • Greet and assist customers with product information.
  • Operate cash register and credit card machine to complete customer transactions.
  • Fill product from back stock and organize displays on the sales floor as needed.
  • Check staffing for the following day’s volume/ events and ensure adequate coverage.
  • Keep Market Manager and Inventory Controller informed about merchandise stock levels.
  • Supervise all Market employees; including Inventory Controller, deli and sales associates in the absence of a manager.
  • Learn all areas of the PB Market to include Inventory Control, deli and sales associates’ individual responsibility, and being able to perform/assist on tasks as needed.
  • Keep Manager informed of customer service issues and employee performance.
  • Assist Manager with employee scheduling.
  • Track inventory and place orders with market vendors at the direction of the Market Manager.
  • Telephone skills to include; answering customer’s questions, taking messages, taking phone orders, etc.
  • Comply with all Pebble Beach Company procedures which include safety and health policies.
  • Know/Model/Integrate Pebble Beach Company culture (missions, values and standards) into daily routine.
  • Maintain and organize product presentations on sales floor; including wine, deli, retail, grocery, dairy and beverage displays.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping standards in store, including dusting displays and cleaning glass.
  • Monitor back hall areas, loading docks, and market guest areas for cleanliness and organization.
  • Participate in physical inventories of merchandise; including counting, recording, and posting inventories.
  • Report all engineer issues as needed into the HOTSOS system.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

Absolutely Required Skills:

  • 2+ years’ experience in a supervisory setting required.
  • ServSafe and TIPS certificate required.
  • Sommelier I certificate and/or wine knowledge required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Desired Skills:

  • Retail and deli experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for long periods of time and move frequently from area to area. Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, and reach with hands and arms. Regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Repetitive hand use as well as foot controls and firm grasping.
