Role Duties & Responsibilities

Payroll Administrators are responsible for the maintenance of specific employee payroll data and time information. Other duties include:

  • Provide excellent customer service and guidance to employees on payroll related issues

  • Become proficient in the use of, various Electronic Time Recording systems, SAP HR/Payroll, CATS, Ceridian Dayforce ,etc.

  • Become knowledgeable of Precision’s policies, field pay rates and the rules around the payment of various other forms of compensation such as Per Diem rates, Bonuses, IRS and State taxation and labor regulations for the states where Precision has business operations

  • Responsible for accurate entry and balancing of time and payroll data for hourly and salaried employees in various company divisions

  • Become familiar with the operational procedures and terminology of the various sectors of Precision’s business lines

  • Enter, W-4 information and additional and recurring payments and deductions, into the SAP HR/Payroll system for hourly and salaried employees

  • Perform reviews of manual time sheets to ensure that proper rates are paid

  • Manual data entry into SAP CATS system

  • Update vacation and PTO quota balances as required

  • Assist with the validation of employee payroll results in SAP HR/Payroll after the initial processing of each payroll run

  • Access employee data and interpret payroll results using the SAP HR/Payroll system

  • Assist with the entry of test data to facilitate the testing of new or changes to existing SAP and Ceridian functionality

  • Responsible for answering the Payroll Help Line/ Payroll Email Inbox and providing excellent customer service and guidance to employees on payroll related issues

  • Respond to payroll inquiries from employees, various external agencies and departments within the company

  • Respond to written requests for data including employment verifications

  • Ensure the confidentiality of all employee information

  • Entry of garnishments into Ceridian Dayforce and have knowledge of garnishment legislation

  • Assist with monthly payroll account reconciliations for a number of payroll general ledger accounts

  • Prepare journal entries to correct reconciling items as required

  • Responsible for the maintenance of division pay rates in the Cadillac CATS table

  • Various special projects and duties as required

  • Responsible for the timely and accurate entry of payroll and time data

  • Responsible for providing excellent customer service

  • Ensure confidentiality of employee information

  • Accountable to fellow co-workers, supervisor and both internal and external customers


Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • 2 to 5 years of Payroll experience

  • Must be familiar with federal and state labor regulations

  • SAP CATS experience preferred

  • Ceridian Dayforce experience preferred

  • Excellent customer service background

  • Experience with high volume data entry and meeting deadlines

  • Proficient in an MS Windows environment

  • Enrollment in or completion of CPP certification program

  • Proficient with MS Windows with above average Excel skills

  • Possess above average data entry skills and accuracy

  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting

  • Ability to deal with challenging customer service situations

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to meet deadlines

  • Possess a strong orientation to detail and a willingness to learn and take additional training as required

  • Ability to work on weekends or general holidays when required


Starting Pay: $58k
