General Overview of the Position
Responsible for performing various semi-skilled work including operating and performing general maintenance of all trucks that may be owned or operated by the City and also operate tractor powered lawn mowers and other items or equipment.

Examples of Essential Duties

• Operates city trucks that are owned or operated by the city.
• Performs snow & ice control measures including plowing, salting and snow fence maintenance.
• Lays asphalt on city streets.
• Repairs city roads and right-of-way's including pothole maintenance and shoulders.
• Assists in chipping and cutting trees and brush.
• Ensures that city roads are clear of litter and debris.
• Replaces and installs street signs.
• Repairs and sets-up voting machines.
• Lays concrete invert and curb maintenance.
• Performs stormwater projects, including ditches and storm water pipe installation and maintenance.
• Complies with all safety procedures, including confined space entry.
• Cooperates with other city employees and responds to emergencies or unusual circumstances as required or assigned.
• Repairs manholes and water shut-off valves.
• Landscaping work including topsoil, seed and sod installation.
• Responds to call-in duty.
• Any other assigned duties deemed necessary by the Streets or Stormwater Supervisor.

Requirements

Requires a high school education or its equivalent, a valid Wisconsin Commercial Drivers License (ABCD - N), plus experience and training which provides for the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• Ability to withstand extreme weather conditions and working out-of-doors and inside structures.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to drive and operate heavy trucks, tractor powered lawn mowers and other power equipment.
• Ability to use general and special equipment associated with streets operation, maintenance and repair.
• Ability to withstand extended periods of manual labor.
• Ability to be available for emergencies that necessitate working at any time outside of normal work hours.
• Snow plowing experience.
• Knowledge of all applicable safety regulations.
• Ability to communicate effectively, courteously and tactfully with staff, city officials and the public.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.76 - $29.38 per hour
