Packaging Engineer Job at Steelcase
We are hiring
Associate - Sr. Packaging Engineer to lead and provide ongoing support through our manufacturing life cycle!
What You Will Be Doing:
Under limited supervision, provide technical support to a manufacturing facility by leading projects involved with the design, development, installation, and documentation of new and existing materials, equipment, and processes for packaging.
Support: Provide timely support to Manufacturing, Distribution, vendors and dealers to diagnose problems and implement solutions to resolve complaints and production problems. Link with Sourcing, Marketing, Engineering, Quality, Project Teams and Test Lab. Interact with Global Logistics to resolve packaging issues for import/export. Ensure that database is loaded and current to production processes.
Improvements: Evaluate processes to ensure optimal labor and material costs to increase productivity and profitability. Through justifications and evaluations, identify prime areas for improvement. Track expenditures to ensure outlays are within budgeted amounts. Keep current with new technology and processes. Reduce damage complaints.
New Product Introductions: Provide technical support for the implementation of packaging for new product(s) introduced into the plant, in compliance with the quality system and the new product development process. Assure that the requirements for packaging new products and specials meet cost/profit targets, implemented per schedules, and conform to shipping specifications (testing and evaluation procedures).

Who You Are:
Preferred Skills and Competencies
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Organized

- Ability to perform cost analysis of cube and materials
- Able to work on multiple projects at the same time
- Ability to communicate ideas to both technical and non-technical people.
- Working knowledge of packaging equipment, materials and processes
- Computer skills: MS Office, CAPE, SAP, Windchill
- Good at investigating quality issues
- Creative with packaging design projects
- Knowledgeable with electronic specifications
Required Skills and Competencies
- 4-year technical degree in Packaging Engineering, or equivalent
- 0-10+ years related experience
