Family Nurturing Center of Massachusetts (FNC) seeks an Outreach Associate for the implementation of

Healthy Bowdoin Geneva Community Collective’s social cohesion initiative. The Outreach Associate will build relationships with community members in order to understand and address issues impacting health and racial equity in the neighborhood, particularly those related to the social determinants of health. The

Outreach Associate will report to the Project Manager. This is a hybrid position requiring occasional evening and weekend hours.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct community outreach and promote resident involvement with issues pertaining to health and racial equity

- Develop productive collaborative relationships with community residents, business owners, and

Collective agencies, including participation in meetings and events,

- Support the efforts of community groups to collaborate and build capacity, including prospecting and recruiting leaders.

- Participate in developing and implementing advocacy actions and community-building activities alongside community members

- Plan and implement activities that promote resource-sharing and social ties that bridge across difference.

Qualifications

- Demonstrated capacity and enthusiasm for community-building
- Ability to relate to persons of diverse backgrounds
- Excellent relationship-building skills
- Willingness and availability to work evenings and weekends
- Bilingual and/or bicultural candidates strongly preferred.

- Familiarity with or connection to the Bowdoin Geneva and/or surrounding neighborhoods strongly preferred.

Schedule: : Flexible schedule, must be available for occasional evenings and weekends

Salary: $22 an hour 32 hrs/wk, grant-funded position ending 2.29.24
