Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and four years of experience in computer systems analysis and/or programming, one year of which was experience as a systems analyst; or bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and five years of experience in computer systems analysis and/or programming, one year of which was experience as a systems analyst. Master’s degree in computer science may substitute for one year of the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience using SQL and Business Intelligence software preferred. Medical Informatics experience preferred.

Essential Functions
Highly responsible, independent work in designing, and maintaining management of information systems; responsible for conducting in-depth analyses of an organization’s current computer systems and procedures and design information systems solutions to help the organization operate more efficiently and effectively; conducts in-depth analyses of customers’ organizational objectives and operational work flow and designs automated information systems to produce required management information; coordinates operation of existing systems to ensure projects are completed timely, data is properly uploaded, security measures are met and reports are published; maintains and enhances existing systems; resolves software bugs, identifies ways to improve system performance and develops new requested functionality; researches emerging technologies to decide if implementation can improve the organization’s efficiency and effectiveness; writes highly complicated computer programs, using the latest programming languages (PHP, C++, C#, Java, Python, etc.); documents system requirements and prepares flowcharts for other IT programmer or system analysts to use when developing the system; monitors project progress to ensure deadlines, standards and cost targets are met; leads efforts to deploy the initial installation or upgrade of a system implementation; may provide functional supervision to programmers and other Information System personnel; trains system’s end users and writes user manuals; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required; related duties as required.
