Key Job Responsibilities:

We are the largest privately held pump aftermarket re-engineering company in the world and we have a fantastic full time career opportunity in Chicago for a qualified Mechanical Engineer in our West Loop facility. The successful candidate will report to the Engineering Manager in our nuclear business and will be responsible for the following:

Key Responsibilities

  • Review shop repair work scopes and make recommendations for upgrades to pumps.
  • Assist the shop with all aspects of engineering changes on repairs.
  • Coordinate the collection and dissemination of technical information between and within the company and the customer.
  • Create bill of materials.
  • Determines possibilities of failures.
  • Review customer source control drawings, specifications control drawings and other applicable specifications to determine requirements and or feasibility of the components.
  • Performs all necessary calculations such as stress analysis, performance analysis, and pressure drop and flow analysis as required.
  • Prepare design changes and present to management.
  • Perform liaison function between engineering and all manufacturing operations for any related issues, problems or improvements.
  • Work with the Quality department to define problem areas.
  • Interact with customers on engineering design and any questions/problems they may have.
  • Coordinate as required with internal groups including purchasing, quality control, sales, production, accounting personnel, metal finishing and assembly.
  • Keep supervisors advised of work status, workload, problems and progress as related to work assignments.
  • Assist management with meeting financial goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 4 plus years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

  • 4 plus years working as an engineer in an industrial facility
  • Knowledge of all types of industrial high energy pumps.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Able to use a computer assisted drafting equipment along with SolidWorks.
  • Flexible with shifting priorities and able to handle multiple projects.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must work effectively with all levels of management and departments.
  • Ability to interact with multiple departments as a team player and to work independently.
  • Knowledge in reading and interpreting prints/specs and technical writing.
  • Proficient with a computer using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sales Logix and Epicor ERP system.
  • Willing to work overtime, weekends and holidays.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of engineering principles and ability to apply them in a project setting.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team.
  • Strong written and oral expression and comprehension.
  • Knowledge of best practices in QA/QC, error reduction, and maximizing efficiency.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $70,000.00 per year

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
