JOB SUMMARY

The Head of Lighting provides technical and programming recommendations and oversees the development and delivery of all aspects of lighting production Property Wide. Ensures consistent and reliable operation of show lighting systems and works with other departments to ensure advanced technical support. Facilitates and maintains Lighting Assets and equipment management.

In addition to an extensive live lighting production background, including a thorough knowledge of advanced lighting systems and experience with system maintenance and troubleshooting, the Head of Lighting is experienced in staff and resource management, show production, design, and integrating the use of lighting systems and programming as applicable in a multi-venue resort environment.

Responsible for the training and integration of lighting technicians. Works with the Sr Technical Operations Manager to develop training standards and programs.

Thorough knowledge of performing as Head of Lighting for high-end Entertainment multi-venue resort productions.

SKILLS:

  • 5+ years of live large venue lighting systems engineering.
  • 5+ years of knowledge and expert-level technical skills for lighting, lighting show programming, networks, rigging, and fixture maintenance.
  • Experience with Grand MA systems, Luminex Networks, Robe Fixtures, Follow Spots, Power Distribution, Electrical infrastructure, show previsualization, and lighting control systems.
  • Theater, touring, or large-scale resort experience is required.
  • Must know about current lighting systems and maintenance.
  • 5+ years of lighting systems management in a high-tech environment or equivalent technical management role.
  • Proven leadership on major, cross-functional projects.
  • Proven ability to quickly understand technical concepts in a wide range of fields.
  • 3+ years of crew lead experience.
  • Can work at extreme heights and with heavy equipment.
  • Must be able to function in a high-pressure environment.
  • Must possess excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to identify safety concerns and conform to safe working procedures.
  • Must maintain relevant knowledge of the industry through continuing education and training.
  • Must possess good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have strong computer skills.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule (evenings, weekends, and holidays).
  • Must have the ability to work with individuals from different cultures and backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of OSHA health and safety protocols is required.
  • Must have current OSHA 30 General Industry Safety Card.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the operation of Lighting Systems property-wide at VAI Resort.
  • Be an important contributor to the VAI Resort Entertainment Production Team with responsibilities for load-in and load-out, multi-venue supervision, new show programming, equipment tests, vendor support, and company events.
  • Participate in pre-production and show advancement.
  • Scheduling and crew management.
  • Perform functions and duties as assigned to assist the department in establishing and maintaining a safe and consistent operation of all venues property-wide.
  • Assist with long-term inspections and maintenance schedules and procedures.
  • Assist and provide services to the other departments as needed.
  • Adhere to all company and departmental safety policies with an emphasis on maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Adhere to all OSHA regulations.
  • Assist with creating a positive atmosphere for all show personnel.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
  • Manage the programming and operation of property-wide lighting systems.
