Summary of Position:

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer and an integral member of the Finance and Accounting team, this position is responsible for creating and managing the museum’s annual budget, preparing timely forecasts including cash projections, and performing financial analysis to support the Museum’s leadership in making strategic decisions. This position also partners with the Controller and the Accounting team to assist as needed in the monthly close process, annual financial audits, tax preparation, and other responsibilities as requested. Critical to the success of this role is the ability to build strong, cooperative working relationships with stakeholders as well as the ability to communicate clearly.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare revenue, expense, and cash projections for use in quarterly financial forecasts as well as donor reports and other communication.

  • Perform financial analysis to support the Museum’s leadership in making strategic decisions.

  • Manage the process of budget creation and maintenance. Advise and collaborate with budget holders as they formulate their expense budgets. Respond to various budget inquiries.

  • Initiate regular meetings with budget holders to review sales and spending progress and recommend necessary actions for improved budget management. Manage variance reporting.

  • Collaborate with the Controller and Development and Program teams to oversee grant budgeting for monthly invoicing and grant reporting.

  • Work with Data Insights and Analytics team to create, revise, and/or update KPI’s and performance dashboards.

  • Prepare charts and presentation materials for communications to Museum staff, Board of Directors, and other stakeholders.

  • Work closely with Museum staff from other departments to implement process improvements at various touchpoints.

  • Train Museum management on budgeting software.

  • Provide periodic support to the Controller and Accounting Team, as needed. Maintain a solid understanding of Museum’s accounting procedures and coding methods.

  • Other duties as requested.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting or Finance.

  • Non-profit experience is a plus, but not required.

  • 2 to 5 years of demonstrated financial analysis, budgeting, or related experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

While performing the duties of this position, the employee will be required regularly to:

  • sit for extended periods of time while utilizing resource materials such as a computer and project management tools.

  • communicate by telephone, email, or other appropriate Perot Museum communication platforms (e.g., MS Teams, Zoom, etc.).

While performing the duties of this position, the employee will occasionally be required to:

  • lift and/or move lightboxes and other materials of 20 lbs. or less.
