Facilities & Groundskeeping Technician (Seasonal) Job at Ripken Baseball
Job Overview:
Assist the Facilities team in providing general maintenance and upkeep of facilities and equipment, under the direct supervision of the Facilities Manager and Sports Turf Manager, to keep the complex in paramount condition.
About Ripken Aberdeen:
The Ripken Experience Aberdeen opened in 2002 and is a youth sport complex in Aberdeen, Maryland that hosts baseball events from March through November. The complex is comprised of 7 artificial turf fields, 2 hybrid fields, concession stands, playgrounds, training areas, and picnic areas.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain facility assets, including buildings and equipment
- General care and maintenance of artificial playing surfaces, mounds, and bases
- Emptying and removal of trash cans throughout complex
- Removal of loose trash from the complex, including the parking lot
- Tending to water and Gatorade coolers in each dugout during programming
- In charge of turning over Ripken Stadium on assigned weekends
- All other duties assigned to ensure success of the complex
Qualifications:
Required:
- Ability to work multiple shifts when assigned
- Must be self-motivated and be able to work independently
- Ability to have reliable transportation to be at work as early as 6am, and stay as late as 12am
- Outstanding customer service
- Must be able to follow instructions given by any full-time staff member
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability and willingness to learn and be responsible for new tasks as assigned
- Ability to be held accountable, following through on commitments, producing timely work to required standards, and pitching in to complete tasks
- Pride of workmanship
- Strong communication skills
- Excellent service attitude
- Must be able to work in a team environment
Working Conditions / Special Physical Requirements:
- Ability and willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more
- Routine exposure to extreme heat/cold conditions
Hours and Pay:
- Can often offer up to 30-40 hours/week during programming season (March-November)
- Possible hours during offseason depending on project schedule
- Pay depending upon experience
