Engineering Intern Job at Itasca Consulting Group
Internship Opportunity
The successful candidate will have a background in engineering mechanics and be an upper division undergraduate or graduate student focused on geomechanics, geotechnical or structural engineering. Responsibilities will include assisting Itasca consulting engineers with projects and software developers with testing, documentation, tutorials, etc. Candidates interested in one or more disciplines of mining, civil, energy or petroleum engineering are sought. Experience using Itasca software (in particular FLAC3D) is desirable.
Primary expectations include
- Good understanding of earth materials, engineering mechanics and numerical analysis.
- Work collaboratively with the consulting and software development teams.
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite.
- Communicate with Itasca consultants, software developers, and external clients to understand needs and help find and develop effective solutions.
- Be willing and able to take on different responsibilities within a small consulting team, including testing, technical support, training and other non-consulting tasks.
Other desirable skills
- Familiarity with 3D CAD software such as AutoCAD or Rhino.
- Familiarity with Python.
General Competence
- Upper division or graduate-level engineering student with focus in geomechanics, geotechnical or structural engineering.
- English proficiency.
