Title: Engineering and Testing Coordinator

Job summary:

The Engineering and Product Testing Coordinator is responsible for ensuring Eastern Wholesale Fence Engineering documentation is in place and up to date. The position is also responsible to ensure all product testing requirements comply with required standards and all certifications are current and maintained.

Engineering: Responsible for the induction of an engineering function which will create and maintain all required drawings and documentation. Apply engineering knowledge to support tooling design and modifications. Recommend alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures.

Testing: Must consistently liaise with product specialists and Quality Department to ensure adherence to standards and specifications. Ensure data is collected, verified and reported to ensure compliance with internal and external certification requirements.

Essential job functions:

Engineering:

• Create, review and store technical drawings, plans, and specifications.
• Perform engineering calculations and design evaluations.
• Analyze problems or deficiencies and develop solutions to resolve issues.
• Maintain an understanding in multiple technical areas and a knowledge of the latest technology.
• Collaborate with cross functional departments and work with vendors and contractors.

Testing:

• Develop testing processes and perform testing and validation of new and current products.
• Work with operations employees to complete raw material, in-process and finished product testing.
• Understand and follow the appropriate protocols (escalation) when materials and products fail to meet expected standards.
• Ensure calibration of testing equipment as required by Quality Manual and local regulations.
• Ensure collection and retention of samples as required by known standards.

Other job functions:

• Participation in cross functional team building and continuous improvement activities.
• Participate in plant-centric teams to provide insight into engineering issues in a timely manner.
• Attend and participate in required meetings.

Qualifications required:

• 3 years of applicable experience.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong math skills.
• Firm grasp of engineering concepts, and experience working with mechanical systems and products.
• Excellent communication skills which foster teamwork.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

Physical demands & work environment:

• Walking, sitting, standing required for extended periods.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to work shift work.
• Ability to communicate effectively and interpret tests results to others.
• The environment can be dusty and loud at times.
• Exposure to extreme weather conditions is possible and temperatures can be either hot or cold, depending on the site.
