Job Title: Construction Site Coordinator
Work Location: Based at the HFHFC Administrative Office – 1502 Lincoln Way East, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Regularly reporting to various HFHFC construction sites
Position Purpose: The Construction Site Coordinator Supports the Construction Operations Director in all aspects of construction activity and volunteer management and participates in all aspects of Habitat for Humanity of Franklin County’s Construction, Rehabilitation, and Critical Home Repair programs in a way that utilizes staff expertise, volunteer labor, and materials to produce quality and timely repairs/renovations to existing homes.
Functions:
Construction
1. Inspect properties and assess housing rehabilitation.
2. Hands on repair and construction of homes during the HFHFC work week.
3. Work alongside Construction Operations Director, subcontractors, community members and volunteers so that work is performed in a timely, quality manner in accordance with approved permits and plans.
4. Maintain tools and equipment in proper working order.
5. Ensure that necessary tools and materials are on site for specific tasks.
6. Use in-kind (donated) material and labor when possible.
7. Provide updates regarding project status and estimated completion dates to Construction Operations Director
8. Inspect the work of volunteers and sub-contractors to ensure all repairs are completed safely and to local code and HFHI construction standards.
9. Maintain a sensitive and compassionate posture when working with people who are in difficult and complex life situations.
10. Ensure that staff, volunteers, and outside contractors maintain the proper respect for homeowners’ space, belongings, and lifestyles.
11. Work, as needed, with HFHFC construction staff on new home construction and rehab of existing homes.
12. Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements and maintain a safe and clean environment.
Community and Volunteer Relations
1. Assess the abilities of volunteers and teach them proper construction techniques, answer questions and see that all volunteers are engaged in meaningful work.
2. Identify and empower volunteer construction team leaders.
3. Work at cultivation and stewardship of all volunteers…including further recruitment of any skilled volunteers working on site.
4. Direct volunteers on site to ensure all work done is high quality and completed on schedule.
Administration
1. Attend HFHFC meetings as required
2. Other duties as assigned
Requirements / Qualifications:
Commitment to the Habitat for Humanity principles and core values as well as willingness to work on a collaborative team.
Absolute commitment to job safety.
Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds not limited to race, faith, age, gender or skill sets.
Good working relationship with homeowner families, volunteers, and contractors is essential.
Excellent communication skills.
Home repair skills necessary to complete all common repairs to industry standards, including but not limited to drywall repair, framing, flooring, siding, building ramps, installing grab bars, accessibility in bathrooms and doorways etc.
Working knowledge of computers, internet, and email usage.
Must have a valid Pennsylvania State driver’s license and at least one year minimum of driving experience. A background check and drug test will be required prior to operating company vehicles.
Must have reliable transportation to travel to job sites within Franklin County.
Ability to transport and maneuver tool trailer when necessary.
Ability to work with minimal supervision in a variety of weather conditions.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly during the workday.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
