Job Description
ING is looking for a trading professional to join ING’s commodity trading desk in the Financial Markets division. As part of the trading team this individual is responsible to trade derivatives linked to a vast array of commodities and manage all risks associated with these transactions. The desk covers a wide product range, covering Energy, Base and Precious Metals and Softs&Agri's.
Our mission is to deliver derivatives products to our clients in a way that is superior while resulting in strong business results. The successful candidate is flexible, able to source liquidity in various markets, and to price quickly, consistently, and accurately. This individual can identify the market risk in the portfolio and mitigate it by trading hedge instruments.
The position has a global presence with engagement across teams in New York, Singapore, and London. The trading professional can form strong relationships with clients and work collaboratively with our marketers and bankers to enrich and evolve our excellent client relationships.
Education and Experience
- Ideal candidate will have at least 2-3 years of relevant trading or risk management experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, Mathematics, or closely related quantitative field from an accredited U.S. school (or equivalent)
- Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Proficiency in programming (e.g. VBA and/or Python/Java/C#)
- At ease with managing processes with a both internal and senior external stakeholders

Tasks and responsibilities
- Price, execute, and hedge a variety of commodity transactions with a focus on metals
- Actively follow developments in (paper) commodity markets
- Continuously check and update relevant market parameters
- 100% observance of all FCA requirements, industry conduct rules and ING Compliance standards.
- Maximize profitability by taking appropriate market rate risk and managing client flow while keeping within the VAR limits and product mandates
- Work closely with Global Sales Team to foster and maintain client franchise
- Expand trading tools to improve efficiencies
- Ensure compliance with the spirit as well as the letter of applicable laws and regulatory policies, standards, and business principles
- Drive dialogue with clients via strong trading recommendations and market updates
Base Salary: $200K-$250K
