We are seeking an experienced Computer Aided Drafting Technician to join our growing family to assist Civil Engineers and Designers in the application of principles, methods, and techniques of civil engineering technology.
The ideal candidate will meet the following qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certificate from a college or technical school and four years of related experience and/or training, or 6-8 years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of the practical application of civil engineering science and technology.
- Ability to apply principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of civil engineering plans.
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office and a high proficiency in AutoCAD or MicroStation. MicroStation preferred.
- Ability to give full attention to and understand instructions by senior design and technical staff.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, working with others in a team setting, working with a team of Engineers and Technicians.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES::
- Produce drawings, using computer-assisted drafting systems (CAD).
- Draft plans and detailed drawings for structures, installations, and construction projects, such as highways, sewage disposal systems, and dikes, working from sketches or notes.
- Review rough sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering data received from civil engineers to ensure that they conform to design concepts.
- Draw maps, diagrams, and profiles, using cross-sections and surveys, to represent elevations, topographical contours, subsurface formations, and structures.
- Determine the order of work and method of presentation, such as orthographic or isometric drawing.
- Finish and duplicate drawings and documentation packages according to required mediums and specifications for reproduction.
- Correlate, interpret, and modify data obtained from topographical surveys.
- Explain drawings to production or construction teams and provide adjustments as necessary.
- Determine quality, cost, strength, and quantity of required materials, and enter figures on materials lists.
- Calculate weights, volumes, and stress factors and their implications for technical aspects of designs.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
PAY:
$52,000.00 – $57,000.00 per year
