Accounting Specialist - Accounts Payable Job at City of Westminster
This position acts as record keeper, bookkeeper and customer service representative for the Finance Department and is responsible for a variety of accounts payable functions. The Primary responsibilities of this position include managing the Accounts Payable invoice flow through the office from incoming mail/email, inputting invoices into the Accounts Payable system, reviewing the input of invoices by City departments to ensure accuracy and completeness, selecting invoices currently due for payment, and the electronic filing of all invoices and associated supporting documentation. Duties also include ensuring the city does not pay sales tax on purchases, ensuring all vendors provide up-to-date W-9s and the information is kept current in the Accounts Payable system, and managing the year-end 1099 process. The role requires a large degree of attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining poise, accuracy, timeliness, and exceptional customer service to internal and external customers. This position also serves as the primary back-up for the Accounting Specialist – Cashiering position during busy periods and lunch breaks. In addition, the position will be cross trained to perform other basic accounting functions in the office to support coworkers, as needed. This is a non-supervisory role.
Qualified candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED required; two years of related accounts payable and bookkeeping experience; or equivalent combination of education/training and related experience. Pay range for this full-time, 40 hours per week, non-exempt position is $19.36 - $22.78/hour, depending on experience.
